Terms of Use

These terms apply to the Mortal Commons website and practice tools.

Educational use

Mortal Commons provides educational material and reflection tools. It does not provide medical, mental-health, legal, financial, or emergency advice. The practices do not diagnose, treat, or guarantee relief from any condition. Seek qualified help for professional or emergency needs.

Your judgment remains yours

The tools offer prompts and structures. You remain responsible for your decisions, actions, safety, and use of the material. Do not use the site as a substitute for professional judgment or emergency services.

Private writing

The journal is stored only in the browser. You are responsible for device access, backups, imported and exported files, passphrases, and clearing data from shared devices. Mortal Commons cannot recover local entries, lost passphrases, or encrypted backup contents. Ordinary browser storage is not represented as encrypted at rest. Import replaces entries with matching IDs only after the journal shows a conflict count and you confirm. On the same device and browser, an earlier private journal, review, or reminder stored under retired local storage identifiers may be moved once into current Mortal Commons storage; that compatibility step does not transmit the content.

Acceptable use

Do not interfere with the service, attempt unauthorized access, introduce malicious code, misrepresent affiliation, or copy and redistribute protected materials beyond rights provided by law.

Intellectual property

The Mortal Commons name, site design, original text, exercises, and downloadable materials are protected works. Personal use of the provided practice tools does not transfer ownership or grant a right to resell or republish them.

External services and availability

Amazon, app stores, email providers, and hosting providers operate under their own terms. Features may change, pause, or be withdrawn. No uninterrupted availability is promised.

Disclaimer and limitation

The service is provided as available without guarantees of a particular outcome. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Mortal Commons is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the educational tools. Rights that cannot lawfully be excluded remain unaffected.

Changes and contact

Material changes will receive a new effective date. Questions: support@mortalcommons.com.
